This class will take place in person in my studio.
In this class we will approach painting intuitively much like a Jazz musician rifts: Learning to improvise and stay open to the unknown. This class encourages painters to make mistakes so that they end up benefiting the paintings. We will experiment working from life, memory and imagination and combine these different methods. Students will learn how to listen to their paintings as the process of painting becomes just as important as the outcome.
The more tools the artist has in their tool box the broader their visual vocabulary becomes. Each class will begin with demonstrations on using color, composition and or paint application. Painters will intuitively apply these methods to their independent projects. We will look at new artists each class for inspiration and to gain greater understanding of the visual language.
